Statement of intent

Statement of intent

In my fashion magazine, I will be using a range of camera shots such as medium shot, long shot and full body shot. I will not be using a close up shot because the main point of my magazine is to promote clothing - the reader should be able to see the items on my model. I will be using a range of angles to make my magazine front cover and contents page effective. I will be using high angles to make my model seem powerful and authoritative. This will be essential because I am promoting female power and equality hence why I’m making my models women. Due to the fact that I am targeting an audience from the age range of 14-18 year olds, I will be using informal language. The use of slang will attract and appeal to my target audience of young teenage girls - Slang usually attracts a youthful audience. I will not be using Photoshop as it destroys the image of ‘loving yourself.’

For my magazine, I am thinking of having a plain white (or other colour) background to keep the main attention on my model and so that I can clearly edit the text onto my magazine. Using my audience research, I have found out that the majority of my target audience is attracted to the colour blue and is favourable with a casual or chic/artsy theme of clothing. Using their feedback from the survey, I will make the main colour theme blue and will dress my models in casual clothing. The colour blue contrasts with my theme of ‘female empowerment’ due to the fact that this colour is usually associated with ‘masculinity.’ I think this is effective as it creates the meaning of ‘girl’s can like blue too.’
