Research Rationale
For my Fashion magazine, I will be doing on going research on my target audience and market. Doing this research will improve the quality of my magazine and will make it effective when attracting readers. Due to the fact I go to a secondary school with the access to 11-18 year olds, I will have no problem with doing interviews within the age range of 14-18. I will have to be asking questions to people in year 9 and above about their interests. I will be researching the types of genre magazines, hobbies and celebrities that my target audience is into as well as asking personal questions about their identity such as; nationality, gender and location. Doing this will ensure that my front cover and contents page will be suitable to my audience.
To start off my research, I will be conducting surveys around school; I will survey at least 50 students per year. I will have more than enough students to obtain qualitative and quantitative data - this enables me to get a clear overall understanding in what I will need to include. I will use the appropriate data to establish what contents will be available. I will not have a gender balanced survey due to the fact that I will have anomalous results. Going to a girls school means that the results won't be as effective to the small portion of boys within sixth form compared to six hundred girls below year 12. The second part of my research will consist of interviews. I will need a camera and a white background to film a maximum of two people per shot. I will be asking a series of 15 questions which I will then edit later into a film.
